Home Power Generation

In this section, you will learn of various ways to power your home using “green power” – solar, wind, micro-hydro, and natural gas systems. The following sections describe what you need to do and how you can go about connecting to these green power sources.

The best thing we can do in the fight against global warming is to reduce our demand for electricity. Since electricity comes from polluting sources such as coal and other fossil fuel generating stations, we need to ensure that we use this electricity as efficiently as possible. It’s important to remember that when we waste electricity, we’re adding unnecessary carbon to our atmosphere and contributing to climate change.
You can connect your excess green power to the grid in a process called Net Metering. If you produce more electricity than you consume from a green source, NB Power will credit your monthly bill based on how much electricity you have supplied to the grid. For more information, visit the NB Power website.
